1 Year Appointment

Today, I took the boys for their 1 year appointment. Let's just say it's cruel to give a baby four shots, but it's even worse for a mommy to have to watch 2 babies get a total of 8 shots...ugh! Despite the shots they did well.

Wilson's stats:
Weight: 23 lbs. 13 oz 75th percentile (only up 4 ounces since his 9 month appointment, finally tapering off)
Height: 30.5 inches 75th percentile
Head Circumference: 46.7 cm 70th percentile

Wilson has become a pretty picky little eater (I hate to admit it, but he gets that from his momma). Today, was the first time he attempted to feed himself more than once. The pediatrician informed us that this is not unusual of a child with such severe reflux. They tend to have texture aversions that extend further than just orally. My darling Wil has taken this to the extreme. Wil is such a happy little guy, but he sure loves his momma to hold him. He is a pretty easy going baby, and because of this he doesn't seem to be reaching his milestones quite as quickly as his brother. He is only pulling himself up to stand by furniture, but not cruising at all yet. His newest thing is crawling up to me, and yanking on my pant legs until I pick him up, and the other morning he yanked a little too hard, and down came my pajama pants...time to tie those up a little tighter.

Drew's Stats:
Weight: 25 lbs. 3.5 ounces 85th percentile
Height: 31 inches 90th percentile
Head Circumference: 48.6 cm 95th percentile (hooray for getting back on the charts with this one)

Drew is just getting over his ear infection, but seems to be sooooo much happier lately, thank goodness (not sure I could handle much more of that). He's recently developed some serious separation anxiety from mommy and along with that comes stranger anxiety...so as you might imagine, it was a tough visit to the pediatrician today. Drew is still as independent as ever, and curious to add to it. His favorite past times are emptying out the tupperware drawer, and getting into my hair products. He seems to have taken a liking to one little tub of hair wax of mine, and doesn't like having to give it up when we are done getting ready in the morning. Which is a great segway into my next frustration, this kid has a temper already! The pediatrician said while it's more common to develop this around 15 months, it certainly can and has happened sooner. He has recently become quite the bear when he first wakes up, throwing himself on the floor, crying, screaming, hitting, swinging his arms all over and this has gone on for as little as 5 minutes and as long as 30 minutes...gasp! The Dr. recommended we just ignore it, since it's too early to punish it and punishing it really gives them the attention they are looking for, thus creating a vicious cycle.

While they are developing quite the little (or in Drew's case BIG) personalities, I'm still feeling so very blessed to be able to be home with them during the day. We are looking forward to going to the park this summer and just getting outside.
